Permas Seafood Village ( Permas Jaya / Overlooking Sembawang Shipyard)

I have heard so much about Orang Asli Seafood Village. However, I have an alternative recommendation which is nearer to the causeway at Permas Jaya. It offers the same scenery view, pricing and taste. I present to you - Permas Seafood Restaurant.

Every trip down North, I look forward to any special occasion to have a meal at Permas Seafood Restaurant. Today is the day as it is Mother's Day! Happy Mother's Day to all beloved MothersPermas Seafood offers a nice view of Singapore's Sembawang Shipyard. It is so close to Singapore that one can receive strong handphone signals from Singapore's local Telecom.

The seafood here is similar to our Ah Yat Seafood, where the seafood are live in tanks. The selection range from Shell Fish, Clams, Scallops, Crab, Prawns, Lobsters and different types of Fish.

Our favourite waitress, Candy, suggests we order a Bamboo Fish. Being live from the tank, the fish was very fresh and tasty. Although there's no service charge, the waitresses especially Candy, are very friendly and professional. They make you feel at home and are so attentive that they constantly fill up our glasses with tea, which I feel is pretty commendable.

Overall, I think Singaporeans will definitely find the seafood here cheap and good, especially given the pretty favourable exchange rates now. You judge for yourself based on the videos below:

Vivo American Pizza & Panini (Halal / Available in Johor Bahru Shopping Malls / JB's Very Own Cafe Cartel)

Vivo American Pizza & Panini(Sandwich) is a Italian restaurant that serves Italian Food and American style Pizza using the traditional method of baking with the secret recipe of the Horrigan family. Vivo has sprung up all over JB's shopping centres. It has franchises in Tebrau City, Plaza Pelangi, City Square, Tesco Kulai and Sutera Mall. I visited Sutera Mall's Vivo branch over the weekend. Here is my take:

Basically, Vivo dining environment is similar to that of a fast food cafe. The atmosphere is fitted with smooth lightning  which provides a warm and comfortable environment.

In Vivo's menu, there are quite a number of dishes which are listed as "Chef's recommendation" or "Best, Must Try!" categories. (Seems like most of their dishes are of superior quality, :) ). Although the size of their pizza is very small (size is stated in the menu by measurement), the thin crispy crust makes up for the difference in size with its superior taste than a certain "hut". Overall, I would rate Vivo's cuisines which include Pasta and Spaghetti as "nothing spectacular" and very much like our "Cafe Cartel"
